Global Traffic Management

As applications are increasingly being moved to data centres or cloud based platforms, it is important to ensure that the end user still receives a good level of service.
Our Global Traffic Management solution has the ability to make decisions about where users’ connections are sent when connecting to your applications making it ideal for disaster recovery or for balancing load between multiple data centres.

Application Delivery plays a critical role in providing online services to end users. It’s about ensuring high availability and consistent performance from a user’s perspective.

Our Global Traffic Management solution has the ability to make decisions about where users’ connections are sent when connecting to your applications.

  • Enable Disaster Recovery
  • Data Centre Independent

Features

Mange Load

User requests can be directed to your least loaded site based upon either static or dynamic methods ensuring load is evenly distributed between sites.

Seamless DR

Maxnet GTMs can also be integrated with your disaster recovery plan to control the redistribution of traffic should a site become unavailable.

Reduce Downtime

When servers need to be taken offline for upgrades or maintenance, our GTM service allows you to take your whole Data Centre offline without your end users experiencing any service disruption.

Independent

The GTM service will work effectively regardless of where your servers are housed. It enables you to distribute traffic among servers situated at your premises, data centre servers or cloud servers.

Tech Specs

Maxnet’s Global Traffic Managers (GTMs) provides your business with greater and more intelligent control over this process than ever before. Through effective management of network connections, your users are connected to the most appropriate service hub, regardless of location, thus enabling disaster recovery, data centre load balancing and localisation of services. Decisions are made based upon the health of your application at a specific site or based upon the location where users are connecting. This creates an appropriate solution for either disaster recovery or load balancing of applications. The use of DNS to provide this service keeps complexity at a minimum and ensures the service is seamless for an end user.

Intelligent DNS

Before responding to a DNS request, the GTM service will perform a number of checks to determine the response that is the most appropriate. This can be based upon the applications’ health, site load or site availability. The outcome is intelligently distributed traffic which in turn improves the performance or availability of an application.

Simplified Control

The GTM service does not require you to move your domain hosting. You can simply create records directing requests to the Maxnet GTMs, thus allowing you to maintain control of your domain. Similarly, the GTM service can perform health checks on your services allowing you to control site availability through simple web health checks. This allows you to manage which sites are live without a change to the GTM service configuration.

Better Together

Maxnet GTMs can be used independently or where your servers are housed, however, when used in conjunction with Maxnet Server Load Balancing, a more integrated application delivery service can be provided. This is possible as the services share dynamic load metrics such as least connections, member capacity, packet rate or through-put rate.
