Tech Specs
Unlike traditional backup methods, Maxnet Online Backup eliminates redundant sub-file data segments at the source before data is transferred across the network (dedicated or internet) and stored on the backup grid. As a result, the network bandwidth required for the backup is significantly reduced, enabling fast daily full backups across existing network links. All backup data is encrypted in flight and the backup grid is only accessible by dedicated links or via an exclusive access list of approved client sites and servers.
Deduplication
Source based deduplication ensures the same data is never backed up twice, significantly reducing the amount of data that needs to be transferred during backups. Network utilisation is reduced by up to 85% in comparison with traditional backup solutions. Backups occur faster, completing within shorter backup windows.
Storage
Each physical server in our Backup Grid runs a RAID disk array. In additional to this, RAIN (Redundant Array of Independent Nodes) technology writes the data between multiple backup servers, so if any node fails, it can be replaced and all the data on it can be restored from the other backup servers.
Backup Network
Maxnet maintains a separate Gigabit backup network exclusively for this service. If you are hosting physical or virtual servers in a Maxnet Data Centre, your backups can utilise this network ensuring your current bandwidth is not impacted by this service.
Image Backup
Maxnet Online Backup technology can also be used to protect your Maxnet Virtual Private Servers with the Maxnet Image Backup service. Instead of running backup agents on your server, backups data is taken directly from the SAN via virtual machine snapshots.
