DNS Setup for Vista
How to update your DNS settings

When you have turned on your Windows Vista machine and it has loaded up. Please left click on the “start” button(little circle with the 4 colours in it) down the bottom left hand corner. When you left click on the “start” circle it will bring up the “start menu” as shown below. In the “start menu”, left lick on the “ Control Panel” option on the right hand side.

Once you have clicked on the “Control Panel” option you will be presented with the screen below. Make sure that it says “Classic View” in the top left hand corner of this screen. Now you need to left click on the “Network and Sharing Center” option.

Once you have clicked on the “Network and Sharing Center” option you will be presented with this window below. In this window, left click on the “View Status” option next to your “Local Area Connection”

Once you have clicked on the “View Status” option you will be presented with the following window. In this window, left click on the “Properties” button.

- Once you have clicked on the “Properties” button you will be presented by the following window. Left click on the “Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)” option then left click the “Properties” button.

Once you have clicked the “Properties” button, you will be presented with this window. In this window we need to make sure that your settings are set to “Obtain DNS server address automatically”. If the dot is next to “Use the following DNS server addresses” then change this to “Obtain DNS server address automatically”. Once you have done this, left click on “OK” to close this window and then continue to close the other windows as well.

Now you have successfully updated your DNS.
